Better Training for Safer Food” (BTSF) is an initiative of the European Commission’s Health and Food Safety Directorate-General (DG SANTE) aimed at organising a European Union (EU) training strategy in the areas of food law, feed law, animal health and animal welfare rules, as well as plant health rules.
The project covers the organisation and implementation of training activities and provision of technical assistance on sanitary and phytosanitary controls towards non-EU countries in need of such support. The main beneficiaries are developing countries where the interventions will contribute to enhance food safety, animal health and animal welfare. Indeed, information and training are strategic tools to help non-EU countries to develop knowledge and capability of meeting EU import requirements and increase trade of safe food. Training and capacity building are targeted at staff of competent authorities of non-EU countries, smallholder farmers and other relevant stakeholders (http://www.btsftraining.com/btsf-world-lot-4/).
