Organisation and implementation of training activities on preparedness and management of food-borne outbreaks in the EU under the “Better Training for Safer Food” initiative – Chafea/2016/BTSF/09

Better Training for Safer Food” (BTSF) is an initiative of the European Commission’s Health and Food Safety Directorate-General (DG SANTE) aimed at organising a European Union (EU) training strategy in the areas of food law, feed law, animal health and animal welfare rules, as well as plant health rules.

The training program aims at disseminating best practices for the multidisciplinary management, investigation and reporting of food-borne outbreaks, improving knowledge of this complex area of work and ensuring consistent and high implementation standards across the Union.

A particular focus is dedicated to improve procedures for crisis management, promote exchange of experience in order to increase the level of expertise and harmonisation in the management of foodborne outbreaks and promote the establishment of effective surveillance systems for the early detection of foodborne outbreaks (Link to BTSF Foodborne outbreaks).

Training workshops were held in the following countries:
